Forest School
At Hook Norton School we are privileged to have access to an on-site wildlife area, woodland area and pond. In addition, our Foundation Stage children take weekly trips to our off-site Forest School.
Here, our qualified staff encourage learner-lead exploration and discovery. Time outside with hands-on real-life learning is proven to improve cognitive function, reduce childhood obesity and help to prevent anxiety and depression. Given the British weather, our trips are frequently also an excellent lesson in resilience!
“Not all classrooms have four walls...”
Our Forest School is full of the perfect sticks for den building, the perfect pots for mud pie making and the perfect trees for hugging!
At the end of the year, the children spend an entire school day here and get to experience the delights of sausages cooked on an open fire, bananas and melted chocolate and toasted marshmallows.
Volunteers and donations are required in order for this to continue to take place. Please keep an eye open for requests from staff.
